GSP Turns Back On

TGA

The Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program restarted last weekend. Eligible imports with the proper special program indicators (SPI) became eligible for duty free importation on April 22. GSP will continue until at least December 31, 2020. On April 20, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) distributed a CSMS message instructing the trade on the timetable for refunds – i.e., duties on GSP eligible imports between January 1 and April 21. Refunds will be processed in three phases. Importers have until September 19, 2018 to submit post importation GSP claims for goods that did not contain the SPI “A” at entry summary.
