Trump Proposes Raising the Stakes from 10% to 25% on $200 Billion China Tariff Retaliation List and Travel Goods Targeted

Yesterday, President Donald Trump directed the U.S. Trade Representative to consider increasing the proposed level of Chinese tariffs from 10% to 25%. All U.S. imports of travel goods from China would be subject to the new 25% tariff. These new punitive tariffs have not yet been implemented. TGA plans to testify against the inclusion of travel goods at the August 20-23 public hearing. You can help to stop these tariffs. The written comment period ends on August 17. The Trump administration needs to hear how these punitive duties would hurt your company, and your workers – and TGA can help you draft that testimony. Please contact TGA’s Nate Herman at 202-853-9351 or nate@travel-goods.org if you wish to submit written comments or anecdotes, have questions, or would like additional information.
