TGA Urges FMC to Stop Ports of LA/LAB Super Demurrage Fee
TGA joined over 80 organizations in urging the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) to prevent the Ports of Los Angeles/Long Beach from implementing the so-called super demurrage fee on containers stuck at the ports. Every carrier has already stated that they will pass this new fee onto shippers, aka you. On Nov. 22, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach delayed the super demurrage fee to at least Nov. 29, citing improvements in the removal of longstanding containers off the docks. This is the second delay for the fee, which was supposed to be implemented on Nov. 15.
