Jon Hoerauf joins Herschel Supply Co. as chief executive officer, bringing to this newly-created role nearly two decades of experience as a global executive in the outdoor apparel space. Under Hoerauf’s leadership, the brand will continue its impressive growth through both its international wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels.

“Jamie and Lyndon have built a phenomenal brand that is ultimately a design company at its core,” Hoerauf said of Herschel Supply Co. Piece of Aviation History Upcycled as Souvenir

Aviationtag has crafted a piece of history into a keepsake luggage tag using the aircraft skin of the Super Guppy. Dating back to the 1960s, these freighters were deployed by NASA in the Apollo program in the 1970s and then charged with transporting extremely large and heavy aircraft parts for the Concorde and Airbus models to the factory for final assembly.

In service for almost a quarter of a century, the Super Guppy had a wingspan of 47.61m and a height of 14.85m and reached speeds of 460km/h at a peak altitude of 7620m. It took to the skies for the last time on July 1, 1996. Now disassembled and punched into a distinctive collector’s item at Aviationtag’s manufactory in Cologne, each limited-edition tag is engraved with the aircraft type and registration number, the edition number and size. Tags feature the classic Super Guppy livery of silver, blue, orange and red. The engraved data can even be used to locate registered users thanks to Aviationtag’s Lost & Found Service. Reusable Shopping Bag Becomes TV Sensation

YaY Novelty’s YaYbag® JUMBO recently aired on QVC, where 10,000 of the bags sold in the first 10 minutes of the segment in which it was featured. This marks the first time YaYbag founder/CEO Sunchea Phou has worked with the powerhouse shopping channel. The YaYbag segment, introduced by host David Venable and demonstrated by problem/solution specialist Kiley Watts, was originally scheduled to air on a Sunday evening – a prime slot – before getting bumped to a Thursday timeslot.

“I expected half of the quantity ordered to sell within their first presentation, but it exceeded QVC’s and my expectations with two-thirds of the quantity sold,” said Phou, noting QVC may take all the inventory the company currently has on hand. “With the current supply chain interruption, it’s a great opportunity for them.”

The reusable and washable bag, packaged as a set of three and offered in several color/pattern choices, including sunflower, boho, pink hydrangea and blue paisley, features a large shoulder strap to comfortably carry up to 55 lbs.

“It’s all about functionality,” said Watts during her presentation. “It’s all about fashion, looking great, but getting rid of (single-use plastic bags).”

Woman-owned Business Nets Grant Award

SpectraSpray Global, a SpectraSpray Global Logowoman-owned and operated small business founded in 2016 and based in New Jersey, has been awarded the NJ STEP grant, a federal award provided through the New Jersey State Trade Expansion Program (STEP). It is funded in part through a grant with the U.S. Small Business Administration and administered by the NJ Business Action Center. SpectraSpray™ will utilize the substantial grant to research market opportunities, International Partner Searches and Gold Key Services while attending U.S. trade shows with a proven international presence.

The company plans to attend 2021 events, including the Travel Adventure Show in Washington, DC, the Global Business Travel Association Trade Show in Orlando and the Natural Products Expo East in Philadelphia.

“These opportunities are the lifeblood of the growth of SpectraSpray, and only possible through the generous STEP grant funding,” said Janet Ryan, founder and owner.

David Lomas Retires from Go Travel

David Lomas Retires from Go TravelAs a family-run business, it was clear that our ethical approach to business and long-term strategic planning was something that resonated with David. Employing a previous business owner can have its complexity, but we were specifically looking for a self-starter and problem-solver – David fit the bill perfectly.

Once he joined the team, he quickly demonstrated the capacity to lead, and identified problems and executed solutions. Whether it was rebuilding the UK sales team in the early 2000s, helping to revamp our European sales infrastructure or opening the U.S. office in 2008, his rise to Managing Director was thoroughly well earned.

During his tenure, David has really fostered the “Go” family environment in the organization, which has been fundamental to the success of the business. Encouraging colleagues and suppliers, customers and contacts, not just professionally but also personally, in times of happiness or in life’s challenging moments, David consistently takes the time to support those around him.

David’s disarming banter led to great relationships, a type of “old school” approach that attracted loyal, hardworking staff and customers who have trusted Go Travel to develop and expand their accessories business over the last five decades. Many describe their business relationships with David as friendships, making business more of a pleasure.  Whether it’s politics, discussing the performance of his much-loved Man. City football team, or his deep global knowledge of the industry, his enthusiasm, wisdom and charm is much-loved by all those who have had the pleasure to work with him.

At all times, David gave 100% and his direct, no-nonsense approach is valued universally, as is his warm welcome.  His infectious persona and clarity of thought – coupled with the ability to ‘tell it straight’ – has no doubt served the Travel Goods Association and Go Travel well over many years.
