Endorsed Bipartisan Legislation Would Prevent the Next Shipping Crisis, TGA Calls for Action Now to End Current Shipping Crisis
On August 10, the TGA-endorsed Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2021 (OSRA 21) was introduced in Congress. The bipartisan bill would require the Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) to establish and enforce rules on minimum service requirements for shippers, respond to contract breaches, and address excessive and unjust detention and demurrage fees. If approved by Congress, the legislation would establish rules that would help prevent the next shipping crisis. However, TGA continues to push President Biden and Congress to act now to end the current #ShippingCrisis and provide much needed relief to the industry. We need you and your colleagues, your employees, your family, everyone, to write President Biden and your members of Congress to urge them to ACT NOW. The customizable letter only takes a few minutes to send.
