UPS and Teamsters reach tentative five-year contracts
On April 25, UPS announced a tentative agreement with the Teamsters union for two separate five-year contracts. The current contracts in the small package and freight business units were set to expire on July 31, 2013. With so many companies relying on the services of UPS for e-commerce product delivery, a labor disruption would have had a dire and widespread effect on the industry. Though the two contracts must still be ratified, the process has been projected to take place within two months and all signs point to a smooth transition.
