Strike at Ports of LA/Long Beach end, East/Gulf Coast Port deadline looms

The strike at the Ports of LA/Long Beach ended last week shortly after TGA joined 98 major associations in sending a Dec. 4 letter to President Obama, calling for an end to the strike using any means necessary. Federal mediators intervened Dec. 4, and an agreement was reached on Dec. 5. Meanwhile, the Dec. 29 contract deadline between the International Longshoremen Association (ILA) and United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) now approaches. TGA continues to urge the Administration to immediately focus on the East/Gulf Coast Port negotiations to prevent work stoppage.
