CALL TO ACTION — TGA needs you to write your members of Congress in support of the GSP Update Act!

Congress will take up legislation to renew the Generalized System of Preferences (GSP) program before it goes on its August recess (GSP will expire in July, so Congress has to take action to renew it). That means TGA and its allies have the next 6 weeks to move the GSP Update Act (H.R. 2139) through Congress. The TGA-supported GSP Update Act would make U.S. imports of most travel goods from many developing countries (the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, etc.) eligible for duty-free entry under the GSP program.

With Congress considering renewal of the expiring GSP program in the next 6 weeks, our window of opportunity to move the GSP Update Act is now. However, we can't get the GSP Update Act through Congress without your help.

TGA needs YOU to write your members of Congress. They need to hear from you today on how the GSP Update Act would benefit your company and your workers (their constituents). With these letters, TGA and its allies can build support in Congress to include the GSP Update Act in any GSP renewal approved by Congress — and make most travel goods eligible for GSP benefits.

TGA has crafted sample letters your company can use to send letters to your members of Congress and to your Senators. TGA can help you determine who your members of Congress are and can deliver your letters to the appropriate Congressional offices on your behalf.

The GSP Update Act represents the first real opportunity to meaningfully lower import duties on travel goods in years. But TGA needs your help now to have any chance of passing the GSP Update Act.

Let's work together to make Congressional passage of the GSP Update Act a reality.

Please contact TGA's Nate Herman at 877-TGA-1938, x-708 or if you have any questions or would like additional information.
