Incorporated in the United Kingdom in 1985, the company opened a U.S. office in 2002. “Our presence in the U.S. market has been heralded with the introduction of the world’s first expandable hard-sided luggage collection, followed by our Frameless™ and Freefoam™ collections of ultra lightweight luggage designed by our U.K. design team,” states Ken White. “We are the industry leader in Europe and our goal is to replicate this success in the U.S.” In addition to luggage, it luggage USA, Ltd. produces ballistic nylon computer briefs, a full line of specialty bags, and oversized duffels. With a 30,000-square-foot warehouse in Indianapolis, IN, the company is centrally located for distribution throughout the U.S.
According to White, it luggage USA, Ltd.’s success in the U.S. is the result of offering the highest value-to-cost ratio in the industry, creating new and innovative product designs on a timely basis, and capitalizing on the fact that it has two China-based offices and 27 inspectors and administrative staff to oversee production. This, says White, has resulted in the lowest return rate in the industry, at an average of less than 1/2 of 1% for the past three years. “We have been producing luggage in China since 1985, longer than any other U.S. company,” says White. “This is why we have such a significant infrastructure and presence in China. This is what sets us apart from every other luggage supplier.”
